Autumn Concert: Duxford String Quintet plays the Schubert Quintet

For the crowning glory in a year of excellent events, Cowlinge Church Companions are delighted to be welcoming the Duxford Quintet for their premiere performance of this exciting concert on September 27th. Once again, the acoustics of our beautiful medieval church will enhance what promises to be a delightful evening of music.

Schubert’s only full-fledged string quintet was composed in 1828 and completed just two months before the composer’s death. It has been called “sublime” and “extraordinary”, and is generally regarded as Schubert’s finest chamber work as well as one of the greatest compositions in all chamber music.

They will complement this work with a quintet by Boccherini.

This will be our last event before the spring (aside from our very popular carol service) as the church will soon enter it’s winter sleep where it is too cold for all but the most hardy! So come and join us and celebrate the end of our first ‘season’ of events by enjoying some beautiful music.

As before; tickets are free with a retiring collection that will go towards our project to restore St Margaret’s. Complimentary drinks will be served from 7pm.

Please let us know you are coming so that we don’t run out of drinks!
